A few weeks ago, I had a nice conversation with a recent madrassa graduate, about the importance of of knowing how to communicate what an alim spends 6 or more years learning. He explained to me that those who graduate from madrassas whose mode of teaching is not English have a difficult time understanding the terms and concepts of English Academia which prevents those people from getting access to the ulema, and the ulema from getting access to those people. He told me that he tried to read about these subjects by buying translations and English penned works on those subjects, but he wasn’t able to find “good” translations that properly rendered the understanding of the terms he wanted to communicate. I assured him that I would go through my own library to pick those works that I felt would help him achieve his goal, as well as recommend to him books written and translated by those same translators and publishers.
In this I found an opportunity to gather the growing English Islamic library in one place, to benefit those who wish to review and learn alike. I would like to make this a project of mine, to review, summarize and continue to search for more books. Please recommend your favorites as well.
