Yesterday’s Research consisted of reviewing nisab al-Ihtisab, planning a translation or summary of that book in the future.
Last Siraji class was today. Completing my outline of the book soon
Todays reading and work included:
- Drafting an outline of concepts mentioned in Uqud Rasm al-Mufti
- Planning for a translation of the compilation Qadiyani and Qadiyaniyah
- Part of the Abu Hussayn Ali Nadwi portion has been completed on ilmgate by Faraz Abdul Moid
- Reading Ilmgate articles
- Faraz Abdul Moid’s Article led me to go and look at some problematic translations of quran distributed in the muslim community.
- J.M. Rodwells translation and commentary seem to try and paint the prophet in many a bad light, but at the same time gives references in previous scripture of almost everything mentioned in quran
- al-quran.info seems to host every english translation avaliable
- This article on hijab has inspired me to pay more attention to moves in the scientific community
- The author mentioned that shyness is now considered social anxiety and has been added to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM. A resource for teachers, doctors, and pharmaceutical companies. Most of the issues in the book are treatable by drugs which then becomes problematic. It made news here and here.
- It also led me to researching why homosexuality was removed from this book of disorders since it was also seen as a disease to be treated. I found a research paper about this here.
- This article by Abu Hasan Ali Nadwi which I assume was translated by Mawlana Bilal, discussed an issue that has been bothering me for a long time, the correspondence of Ashura with Yom Kippur.
- Faraz Abdul Moid’s Article led me to go and look at some problematic translations of quran distributed in the muslim community.
- Working on editing old articles I’ve written for new publication
